Generating results is obviously and always more valuable than just doing something.
But it's not how we think.
The natural inclination, when faced with a new situation, is to ask:
"What should I do?"
Not, "What outcome do I want?"
The logical followup to the second question would be, "What's the most effective way to get to that outcome?"
The vast majority of well-meaning errors in the world are from people doing stuff instead of ensuring results happen. If you have some unsettled questions on what you should be doing... then try asking what you want. Sounds obvious, but it's very possible that step was neglected.
