Today was stacked. Incredibly busy day. I got to the cafe where I was going to do an interview. It was 3:28PM, and the interview was at 4PM.
I write 30 minutes every day. I wanted to get my 30 minutes in, so I hurried to sit down and write.
And... wow. What a magical session. Instead of screwing around, overly thinking, or "warming up" before writing, I dove right in. The whole time, I wrote at an incredibly fast pace, and I felt almost cheated that I couldn't write as long as I wanted to.
It's funny, because normally I'm resistant to writing at least a bit when I first sit down. But today, it very much felt like something I wanted to do was being taken away from me, and it made it easier to get started earlier, work faster, push harder, get more done, and have a very pleasant experience.
It's odd, but it's not. As Brian Sharp says, constraints are liberating.
