15 August 2013. 1:48AM. Beijing, China.
The whirlwind had subsided and the lights were getting shut off at the mixed residential/office/cultural organization's HQ.
I'm in the kitchen and just drank an entire large bottle of soda water. An interesting call just ended -- t'was about whether it's better to accept human nature or attempt to elevate it during the sales process at an outstanding company.
During the call, it made sense to load up some websites as resources and reference points.
Call over. Then -- clicking around, somewhat aimlessly, reading something mildly interesting. Only mildly interesting.
And then, strike! I almost fell off the chair. The sheer power of the realization:
I could be making money right now.
Whoa, where did that come from?
I could be making money right now.
For myself, and my family.
Or for charity and helping others.
Or I could be making art, or writing.
Or doing something I really enjoy.
And yet…
Opportunity cost is near infinite. The only constraint is your imagination -- if you can bring yourself into awareness. It's okay to pay the price, but double-check that you know just what you're paying...
