"Hey, before I go -- you're always trying these cool lifehacks and experiments. Give me one to run with."
"Okay... ever do a positivity challenge?"
"No, what's that?"
"Well, whenever you think something negative, you turn it around. So if you're thinking, 'Damn it, I missed my flight' then you can fill in, 'maybe I'll meet someone interesting because of it.' It's amazing what it does for your psychology, you never really have a long unhappy period if you do it."
I was speaking with Tynan, who is a very smart guy doing lots of interesting things. I took his advice -- this was like four days ago? -- and the results have been stellar.
Today, I was at a cafe and there was a sick kid next to me coughing. I packed up my stuff to leave (the kid was really hacking and coughing a lot, and I didn't want whatever he had) and I found myself thinking, "Damn kid coughing..." but then immediately followed it with, "So I'm heading out of the cafe earlier, can grab a shower immediately and shift into even more productive stuff."
It's really incredible. I committed to doing it for 30 days, loving the results so far.
