Results --
Awake: Approx 12:30PM (7.5 hours)
1:40PM: Start of the day I was kind of out in space -- I set an alarm for when the cleaner was supposed to come, she was late, and I was groggy so sleeping on the couch. Otherwise, I'd have slept only 6 hours or so. I did some reading, some surfing the net (but not too much, I had SelfControl on Mac turned on from the night before. I wasn't really thinking clearly until I had food, water, coffee starting around 1:30. (20 general-life, 30 reading, 20 distraction)
Okay, time to move into planning and analysis. Let's go through last week carefully, make good notes about how to improve/refine, and then keep going from there.
2:30PM: Very good planning session and weekly review, posting it on the blog, making my own notes, and posting it on the DC. (50 planning)
---
Spending: 83RMB for tuna salad (plain tuna, vinegar/oil, vegetables), chicken nuggets, black coffee. Did it lead to higher production? Yes, closest solid place to the Loft while cleaner was working, needing to fuel up quickly to get on with the day. Good call.
3:10PM: More planning/refining. (20 planning, 20 general-life)
[[6:30PM: Napped 3.5 hours… kind of crashed out on the couch.]]
7PM: Got caught up in email. (30 semi-productive)
7:50PM: Phone conversation -- highly productive, important stuff. Some philanthropy related, some other projects. Not on core metrics. (50 productive)
8:10PM: Got sucked into looking at random email, re-reading a contract I was executing on (somewhat useful), looking through a ledger of expenses and reinvestments (somewhat useful), but not on the core metrics stuff. (20 semi-productive)
Spending: 61 RMB for coffee, 2 plates of chicken nuggets.
9PM: Not sure where this time went. (???)
9:30PM: Good client call, some sales mixed in. (30 focused client service/sales)
Food: Chicken wings, coffee, black tea.
11:30PM: Great conversation about statistical decisionmaking and life in general, though this is the kind of time that's dangerous towards not getting done the metrics/oriented stuff. (120 social, but could have better also social but more focused)
3:45AM: Very good work on lead-sourcing campaign (and potentially considerable revenues). Very, very, very good 4 hours. (255 marketing/sales)
4:20AM: (15 distraction, 20 marketing/sales)
Observations: If you look at the 11:30PM to 3:45AM, put a lot of time into a great, great campaign. Of course, you already know this, but putting time into big important things first leads to better results. I had two very solid blocks in the day -- the planning and weekly review block in the morning, and the marketing block at the night. There were a variety of valuable things (and "meh") things mixed into the day too, but getting the focused blocks makes things successful.
