I'll have to think if this has always been true -- do the most successful days overwhelmingly account for the most production and getting things done?
Here were Day Six's objectives --
PLAN FOR DAY SIX:
*Wake 1:20PM for 1:30PM call.
*Have a good call, get reqs for that project*Immediately after call,
--Modafinil
--Bring laptop with to gym
--Gym*Post-gym: Flow state, solicit some feedback and take a crack at writing (my best shot… maybe write a "pretty damn solid" piece if a great one isn't happening)
*Lead-gen from 8PM to 11PM, work very fast on it
*11PM: Hit the phones immediately. I've never tried Pomodoro's before, but maybe that's the answer here.
--
Leaving for Day7…
*Whatever last sales calls to do
*Contact nonprofit officials…and somehow, despite the week being off-track quite badly, the core stuff all seems to be happening.
Here's what happened --
Awake: 1:25PM (5 hours sleep)
3:30PM: Two phonecalls -- philanthropy and getting some counsel.
5PM: Distraction, errands. (30 distraction, 60 general-life)
7:10PM: (60 fitness, 20 phonecall, 20 general-life, 30 thinking/reflecting)
11:10PM: Amazing writing session. Wrote 3,000 words of a fantastic piece. (240 writing)
12AM: (50 general-life)
12:30AM: Thought call was at midnight, actually it's 12:30AM… (30 semi-productive)
2AM: (60 sales, 30 productive)
6:30AM: (90 sales/service, 240 discussing marketing/strategy/product/business/etc)
3:20PM: Still awake… weird end of day, a mix of really high level stuff (which got me excited, had a lot of energy, went to the gym, etc) and then mixed in email, maintenance, low level stuff, and then the rain comes down a crazy amount and I stay in the cafe to weather it, and now it's 3:30PM. (Not really tracked, almost all decent time, some of it very good.)
4:10PM: Damn, did a bunch more good stuff. Need to grab a quick few hours of sleep though. (40 productive)
Looks amazing and pretty good, and then around 6:30AM, I don't sleep and keep on going. I get a lot done, but it definitely throws sleep schedule off-track.
Day hit almost exactly -- except only added three more sales calls (yet, another client signed on -- which means my hit rate has been way up from before). Stayed up much later than would have been prudent, meaning Day 7 of the week needs to be met pragmatically/realistically.
I did some great writing, 3000 words of a piece that I actually like enough that I'll get some feedback on editing before releasing. Then some sales, some business, fitness, and just a good day all around.
Staying up really really late at the end is on the unusual side for me -- I just jumped into this 90 Day thing, and if anything the first week has been more crazy and varied than normal. Day Seven will likely be a little on the low side, and the first week of this thing is going to probably be very slightly short of the metrics/objectives, but still much higher than would have been otherwise.
