Solving Work vs. Doing Work
We had a small, intimate turnout for the Gotta Be Good tour date in Washington D.C. — but the crowd was absolutely awesome, some really outstanding people there.
One of the gentlemen told me he took Miguel Hernandez’s GiveGetWin class… and got something huge out of it.
He’s a business owner, and he implemented one of Miguel’s scripts in order to save time. Miguel has a highly systematic business at his animation studio, Grumo Media. As part of the class, Miguel shared aspects from his Operations Bible and scripts and code he’s written to speed up work.
The gentlemen in D.C. implemented the script, and says it saves him two hours a week in his business.
Forever.
How awesome is that?
That’s solving work instead of doing work. Before he turned that script on, he was doing some sort of hand-sorting and hand-contacting customers.
Afterwards? Autopilot. Better and more consistent customer experience (fast replies and action, no human intervention for them to get shipments, and they can still contact customer service any time for a human touch) — and the business runs smoother, easier, and more efficiently.
Why don’t people do it?
Because it’s hard. Thinking is one of the hardest things. Analyzing repeatedly, asking “Why is it this way” repeatedly, banging your head against the wall — repeatedly! — this isn’t easy.
But it’s the essence of building a better life. Get everything on autopilot. Solve work instead of doing it, so the results get done forever.
